Hi Ian
You’ll be pleased to know if you don’t already on Saturday 24th April I successfully rowed across the Atlantic Ocean arriving in English Harbour, Antigua at 18.34 UK time. What I thought would take 80-90 days ended up taking 110 days, 4 hours and 4 minutes. This was due to very poor weather and I later found out this year has been the worst year for crossing the Atlantic in over 10 years. Rowing into English Harbour was an amazing experience with hundreds of well wishers greeting me in. Sadly my parents could not make my arrival due to all the issues with the flights which was a little sad but I just had to crack on.
The Atlantic is a pretty tough place at times but on the flip side it can also be a fantastic place. One thing I learnt from the crossing was if you just keep going when you feel there is no point anymore whatever you are trying to achieve will come in the end. Amongst a lot of other problems I completely ran out of food 235 miles from Antigua but was fortunately able to get a re-supply arranged that enabled me to continue.
The last 2 years preparing for the crossing has been pretty tough and the crossing itself was even harder but when Antigua comes into sight it really is worth every minute of effort. However Antigua would never of come into sight for me if it wasn’t for my sponsors who believed in me when others didn’t. So I want to thank you for believing and investing in me. Especially as you were my first sponsor. Thank you!
