Opcom manufactures Network Simulators which incorporate actual
lengths of fibre. Opcom also performs sub-contract manufacturing
of optical modules. They integrate optical, opto-electronic
and electrical components in accordance with the customer's
design.
Automated
link simulation and measure
These simulators incorporate actual lengths of fibre as well
as other passive and active components. Simulators can have
from 1 to 10,000 km of fibre. Each simulator is custom designed
to meet the exact needs of the customer. The simulator in Fig.
1 is remotely control interms of Attenuation and distance of
link. Software then intergrates measurement and via OTDRs and
Loss measuring devices in to a spread sheet form, if used with
automated measuring equipment
Inexpensive
link simulation
Equipment manufacturers need Opcom simulators to allow final
test of complete systems or to test individual components within.
The Simulators can be ordered with computer control or with
manual control. Simulators are also use by R&D groups to
test systems on actual lengths of fibre and to test optical
receiver sensitivity. gle mode fibre
Computer
or dial up attenuation systems
As an optional extra automatic inline attenuators may be incorporated
to simulate even great distances or to simulate added cable
joints. The attenuation may be either dialed in manually or
via computer control. This allows the maximum level of adjustment
and even greater flexibility in the applications used
