The FH (Multicode) & FL (Singlemode) optical modems or
line drivers enable multi-directional conversion of data rates
from 64Kbps, 2Mbps, 8Mbps, 34Mbps to STM-1 (155Mbps) from
copper into optical fibre.
These devices offer both campus linkage between high-speed
networks as intra-office applications (short distances) and
Metro or WAN (long haul) Single mode fibre applications, based
on the SDH standard coding on the line interface. In addition
to SDH standards, FHS/FL-S converters also support the SONET
standard. i.e. they allow for the conversion of OC-3 into
STS-3c signals.
